Outlook for mac auto accept calendar invites

We use outlook for managing emails, calendars and contacts and have
it merged with icloud. When I used to send my wife a calendar invite, it would
automatically go into her calendar inbox on her phone. She would then open the
inbox an accept the invite. And vice versa. For some reason now, this has
stopped.
What is happening now is we receive an email which we have to open and then scroll
down to the ics attachment. We then need to click on that, add it to calendar
and then accept it
